study of a portrait
cast stone (concrete), tint, wood base, aluminum tubes
25 L x 7 W x 20 H inch
I wanted to study the effect of installing several of exactly same portraits to see if and how it changes facial expression of each of them.
The heads can be easily turned around the rod.
It’s a really fun piece: depending on where one of them looks, the other two change their connection. There is a definite relationship among all three.

Wild Laughter
cast resin, steel base
25 x 10 x 8 inch
It was originally modeled and fired in clay to my friend Cindy’s sparkling personality
It was my first experience casting in Resin. I love the result: it is translucent with beautiful finish.
It is cast hollow and it is not easy because resin sets in instant.

The Old Fellow
2008, high fired clay, stains, underglaze
33 x 26 x 16 cm (13 x 10 x 6 in)
I was always fascinated with shapes of a human nose and this work started as modeling Cyrano de Bergerac’s Nose; only later it evolved into a face with a big nose 🙂
I also managed to make 2 hats for him: I was really attached to this fellow. The work was sold at the CCACA at Davis.
